Born and raised in Houston by my grandparents (Mom’s parents) I’ve learned the values and morals as a minority in life as a former student, mother and worker in the professional world. I would like to say I am very thankful for the effort and support I received from my grandparents because without them I would not be the person I am today. While attending school I was active in volleyball and swimming (which I made it to regionals). After graduating high school in 2004 I decided to stay in town to be close to my grandmother by starting community college to further my education. Out of all my immediate family I am the first to attend and graduate college. I wanted to make my grandparents proud especially my grandfather who passed in 2002. After attending school a few years, I had my daughter Danika in September of 2007. She is my only child who I adore and always go above and beyond to be the best role model I can be. I have always been into fitness and after 3 years of not working out since having my daughter I decided to get back on track with staying healthy and in shape. I started running for about 5 years then joined crossfit about a year and half ago. This is another habit I would love for my daughter to pick up on because I believe investing in yourself is one of the best investments. Finally, with many trials, tribulations and with the help of my grandmother I graduated college in 2015 receiving my accounting degree from The University of Houston Downtown. Seeing my daughter and grandmother proud of me on the day of graduation was the best feeling. I recently left my job of seven in and half years to explore other career opportunities and experiences. I am currently working for Love’s Travel Stop as an inventory control analyst to expand my knowledge in the business field.
